FJ60: To Decal or not to Decal?

That is the question.

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60, with its ruggedly handsome, strong lines is a statement of a classic off-roader in-and-of-itself. So in designing one of our in-house build projects that are our sandbox for experimenting with new ideas, we wanted to turn the visual dial up to 11. Stripe decals….Stripe decals!

3D rendering of “Project Ironwood”, a 1984 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60. All of our projects are presented to clients as renders and we iterate designs with them to develop the vision for a build. This is an integral - and exciting - part of the up-front build process that sets the roadmap for a project from design to the road.

We love to design builds that satisfy that “What If?” itch, and this California-spec 1984 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 gave us the perfect canvas for exploration. Already finished in the perfect get-off-the-pavement-and-dive-into-the -1980s Dune Beige paint, this truck already had a great set of accents in the form of options, including side steps, suspension lift, Hi-Lift jack mounted on the front bumper, roof rack, and LED headlamps. Was enough enough with this build?

Not in this case! A mock up in our design stage with those classic black, brown and orange stripe decals added just the right amount of 1980s ka-pow to this FJ60, and we were sold. More is just better sometimes and the more corduroy, bad synth, and Air Jordans we can bring to memory with this build, the better!

To decal was definitely the answer.

More is more, and better. Toyota Dune Beige paint with a carbureted engined… like a 1980s time-machine!
