1992 Land Rover Defender 110 200TDi — Rebuilt from the Ground Up

A Defender’s Next Chapter

This 1992 Defender 110 RHD came to us with a proud past—a partial on-frame restoration completed in 2018 and years of dedicated wrenching by its owner in his home garage. But every build hits a tipping point—the moment where time, tools, and complexity outgrow even the most passionate enthusiast. That’s where we stepped in.

Our mission: to take this well-loved Defender into its next era with a new galvanized chassis, a refreshed engine, and a full conversion to Left-Hand Drive—all while preserving the soul of its 200TDi heart.

Precision Rebuild. Purposeful Transformation.

The restoration began by lifting the entire body from the aging frame and preparing a brand-new galvanized chassis. With the body supported and indexed, we installed fresh mounts and prepped the platform to receive its revitalized mechanicals.

The engine came out for a thorough inspection—head removed, valves adjusted, gasket replaced. We machined the cylinder head, cleaned the block, and sealed it all up again with new gaskets, belts, and hardware. Alongside, we inspected the clutch and flywheel (installed in 2021), confirmed they were in excellent condition, and installed a fresh rear main seal and starter motor just to be sure.

Up front and out back, both axles were removed, cleaned, painted, and reinstalled. Though much of the axle hardware was upgraded by the owner with Ashcroft components—including 24-spline shafts and limited-slip differential—we refurbished wheel hubs and cleaned up any signs of age or wear.

From Right to Left: LHD Conversion

With a new galvanized firewall installed, we began the LHD conversion—mounting a full new steering setup, dashboard, binnacle, pedal box, and firewall accessories. Every harness was replaced, each wire routed with care, and all customer-supplied parts installed to spec. The Puma-style rear door was mounted along with a Mantec tire carrier, new sill rails, side and rear steps, and much more.

We finished off the interior with added sound deadening mats, seat box lids, a new brake line kit, and a reimagined rear seating configuration—cutting into the wheel wells to push back the second-row seats without raising their profile.
