Reborn from the Past

Some builds begin with potential. Others begin with pain. Project Malachite began as a battered, storm-worn Discovery II—abandoned after a decade of stillness, windowless, rusting, and bearing the scars of impact. What followed was not a repair, but a resurrection. Over 1,000 hours later, this Land Rover has re-emerged as a head-turning off-road classic, enhanced with meticulous upgrades while preserving its original soul.

Immaculate Recreation

Every system was taken down to bare metal, assessed, rebuilt, and reimagined—from drivetrain and chassis to the headliner and stereo. The exterior now wears a clean black glossy sheen, accented by modernized lighting, flared arches, and upgraded steel bumpers. The cabin? A wool tartan-trimmed sanctuary of light cream leather and hand-fitted detail. This isn’t a Discovery that survived—it’s one that was redefined over the course of almost 2,000 man-hours of work. This build represents the absolute finest example of the legendary Discovery II and is ready to create memories for a new generation.

  • Body & Exterior

    • Full exterior disassembly and bodywork including panel replacement, rust repair, straightening, and dent removal

    • Glossy black repaint with refinished plastic cladding and trim

    • Custom hood scoop

    • ARB-style steel front bumper with integrated winch and halogen bracket mounts

    • WIPAC 4x4 auxiliary front lighting system on nudge bar

    • New smoked front and rear headlight clusters with guards

      Installation of new mesh-style grille

    • Rear ladder and widened wheel arches

    • Fifteen52 Analog HD modular wheels with Cooper STT Pro tires

    • All-new weather seals, door rubbers, and roof glass installed

    Interior

    • Entire interior removed, repaired, reupholstered and reassembled

    • Custom seat upholstery in light beige perforated synthetic leather

    • Wool plaid headliner custom-wrapped and ensemble-mounted

    • New hand crafted floor carpets and sound insulation underlayment

    • Seat functions restored; electronic modules diagnosed and repaired

    • Rebuilt and repainted plastic door panels, center console, and dashboard trim

    • Upgraded speaker system and Blaupunkt bluetooth enabled audio head unit installation

    • Custom fabricated mounts and restored electric seat harnesses

    • Door seals and handles reassembled with refinished clips and trim

    • Extensive wiring repair throughout cabin electronics

    Mechanical & Underbody

    • Full chassis and underbody degreased, de-rusted, and painted

    • All bushings replaced (suspension, differential, arms)

    • Suspension overhaul with 2” lift adjustments

    • New front and rear EBC performance brake discs, pads, lines, and calipers

      Installation of steering and differential guards 

    • Hubs and drive flanges on axles replaced front and rear

    • Cooling system overhaul including new radiator, hoses, and water pump

    • Power steering system rebuilt, including new steering box and lines

    • New exhaust gaskets, manifold prep, high-temp painted system

    • Fuel delivery system tested, repaired, and flushed

    • Engine disassembled for overhaul: gaskets, cylinder heads, accessory mounts

    Electrical

    • Diagnosis and correction of immobilizer and starter issues

      Rewiring and installation of rear and interior lighting

      Cleaning and repair of engine and body control modules

    • Replacement of oxygen sensors and diagnostic wiring

    • Final electrical QA for seats, stereo, windows, lights, and sensors
