Back to '95.
Some vehicles earn their character over time. Others arrive with it from the factory. Project Little Blue Truck was built around preserving exactly what made Toyota's compact pickup so beloved in the first place—its simplicity, honesty, and unmistakable personality.
Originality, Elevated
From the beginning, the goal was never to modernize the truck or reinvent it. Instead, the objective was to carefully restore and refine what Toyota originally created, while introducing subtle details that felt as though they could have existed when the truck first sat on a dealership showroom floor in 1995. Every decision was guided by a single principle: respect the era, preserve the character, and elevate the experience.
As a result, this 1995 Toyota Pickup restoration became far more than a cosmetic refurbishment. It evolved into a comprehensive restoration project focused on authenticity, craftsmanship, and usability. Every system, material, and finish was evaluated with the intention of creating a truck that felt factory-fresh while honoring the heritage that made these Toyota pickups legendary for their durability and timeless design.
The exterior underwent a comprehensive restoration, beginning with body repair, panel refinement, and extensive paint preparation before being refinished in Deep Midnight Blue—a color perfectly suited to the truck's understated character. New chrome bumpers, lighting components, trim pieces, and carefully selected period-correct graphics were installed throughout the build, creating a finished appearance that feels authentic to the era rather than modernized. The result is a classic Toyota truck restoration that captures the spirit of the original vehicle while presenting at a level rarely seen when these trucks were new.
Inside, the transformation was even more extensive. The cabin was completely disassembled to allow every surface, component, and material to be individually restored, refinished, or replaced. The original seats were stripped and rebuilt using Palma Vinyl in Lexus Blue, selected for its durability, appearance, and ability to complement the truck's original design language. To create a distinctive yet period-appropriate aesthetic, the seating surfaces were paired with Blue Southwestern Tribal Jacquard fabric, introducing texture and personality while remaining faithful to the truck's 1990s roots.
Beneath the seats, new blue German square weave carpeting trimmed in matching blue vinyl was installed throughout the cabin, dramatically elevating the interior without sacrificing authenticity. Door panels were reupholstered in Lexus Blue vinyl, interior plastics were restored and refinished, and trim components were carefully refurbished to create a cohesive environment from floor to roof. Every material selection was made with the goal of creating a custom Toyota pickup interior that feels intentional, timeless, and entirely at home within the truck.
Significant attention was also devoted to the vehicle's electrical systems and overall functionality. Lighting, instrumentation, radio components, switches, and supporting electrical systems were systematically serviced and restored throughout the project. Mechanical systems received a comprehensive inspection and service, ensuring the driving experience matched the quality of the restoration itself.
What makes Little Blue Truck special is not any single modification, but the discipline behind the entire build. Every material, texture, color, and component was selected with the same question in mind: could this have belonged here in 1995? The answer is a vehicle that feels remarkably familiar yet unusually refined—a faithful interpretation of Toyota's original vision executed with the benefit of modern craftsmanship.
Little Blue Truck doesn't attempt to be something it never was. Instead, it serves as a reminder of why these pickups became icons in the first place. Honest, durable, approachable, and built to be enjoyed, it feels less like a restored vehicle and more like stepping into a Toyota dealership nearly three decades ago. It is a celebration of everything that made the Toyota Pickup a benchmark for reliability, wrapped in a restoration that honors its history while ensuring it can continue creating new memories for years to come.
