Reclaimed. Reengineered. Reborn.

Project Nomad began as a true recovery—less a build and more a reclamation. This 1994 Land Rover Defender arrived not as a running vehicle, but as the remains of an abandoned project: disassembled, incomplete, and far from operable. What was believed to be a ready-to-install drivetrain proved otherwise, requiring a full rethinking of the mechanical foundation. From that point forward, the objective was not just to finish the job—but to do it properly.

Refined Through Engineering

At its core, Nomad was rebuilt around a proven and robust GM LS 5.3L V8 platform, paired to a 4L80E automatic transmission. This combination delivers the kind of reliability, serviceability, and usable power that transforms the Defender driving experience without compromising its character. The work extended far beyond a simple swap—encompassing full drivetrain engineering, custom mounting solutions, cooling, exhaust, wiring, and electronic integration to ensure everything operates as a cohesive system.

Supporting systems were brought up to the same standard. Brakes, suspension, steering, and electrical were all addressed, while the interior and exterior were carefully reassembled and refined from a fragmented starting point. The result is a Defender that retains its raw, purposeful identity, but now benefits from a modern, dependable mechanical backbone—built to be driven, not just admired.
