Built for the Backroads—and the Backyard

classic full-size Bronco, this 1988 model came to us tired and plagued by reliability issues: overheating, oil leaks, weak suspension, and a check engine light that refused to stay off. The mission was clear—revive its legendary V8 heart and restore its mechanical strength while keeping its rugged soul intact.

Engine Rebuild and Drivetrain Overhaul

The Bronco’s 5.8L V8 was pulled, stripped down, and overhauled. With cracked cylinder heads, they were resurfaced replaced. Then every gasket, and seal was replaced, valve covers refinished, and fuel injection components renewed. New sensors, injectors, plugs, and a fuel pump brought modern reliability, while careful machining and calibration ensured durability. The transmission, transfer case, and both differentials received equal attention, fully disassembled, cleaned, resealed, and reassembled for decades of service.

Brawny Details

A 2.5" lift suspension kit with stabilizers was installed, alongside fresh ball joints, bushings, and tie rods. The axles were rebuilt with new seals and bearings, while the brake system received new calipers, pads, hoses, and a booster for confidence on and off the road.

The Bronco’s electrical gremlins were chased down with a rebuilt powertrain harness, new grounds, and fresh relays. From O2 sensors to dashboard shifter alignment, reliability was restored. Even the emergency brake, tailgate, and interior systems were reconditioned.

Highlights of the build:

  • Full engine overhaul: new heads, gaskets, seals, machining, and new fuel system (injectors, pump), new ECU

  • Transmission and transfer case disassembled, resealed, and recalibrated

  • Differentials fully rebuilt with new bearings and seals

  • 2.5" suspension lift with stabilizers, alignment brackets and fresh bushings

  • Complete brake system refresh: calipers, pads, booster, hydraulics

  • Electrical system reconditioned: rebuilt engine harness, sensors, relays

  • Steering box and linkage replaced

  • Interior refinements: seatbelts, switches, and functional gauges

After nearly 500 hours of labor, the Bronco is no longer a tired old workhorse—it’s a reborn classic, ready for trails, highways, and everything in between.
