Project Baobab is a carefully reengineered FJ45 built to preserve the elemental look and open-air character of Toyota’s long-wheelbase Land Cruiser while dramatically improving reliability, drivability, and comfort. The goal was not to modernize the appearance, but to modernize the experience—creating a vehicle that feels authentic, usable, and mechanically confident in real-world conditions.

Analog Feel, Modern Confidence

Finished in Lamborghini Orange, Baobab leans into the bold, utilitarian personality of the FJ45. The soft-top configuration with rear swing-out half doors and roll-up sides keeps the truck visually light and adaptable, equally suited to open-air driving or longer journeys. Period-correct proportions and restrained exterior detailing ensure the vehicle reads as timeless rather than modified.

Underneath the classic form, Baobab benefits from a fully reworked drivetrain, chassis, all galvanized hardware, electrical system, and interior. A V8 powertrain, electronic fuel injection, modern transmission, power steering, disc brakes, air conditioning, and updated instrumentation transform the FJ45 into a Land Cruiser that can comfortably cover distance while retaining its mechanical, analog feel.
