Some trucks become classics because they're rare. Others become classics because they spent decades doing exactly what they were built to do. The 1970 Ford F-250 belongs firmly in the second category.

Refined Through Engineering

Part of Ford's legendary fifth-generation F-Series, the 1970 F-250 was engineered during an era when pickup trucks were designed with one purpose: work. These trucks hauled lumber, pulled trailers, crossed ranches, served construction crews, and became trusted companions for generations of American families. They weren't built to impress they were built to last.

More than fifty years later, that same rugged spirit remains.

Project Canyon began with a vision to preserve everything that makes this old workhorse special while transforming it into a truck equally at home on today's highways, backroads, and campsites. Rather than erase its history, we embraced it, preserving the truck's honest patina while thoughtfully integrating modern capability and comfort throughout.

The biggest challenge quickly became the biggest opportunity.

Unlike their four-wheel-drive counterparts, lift kits simply aren't available for two-wheel-drive 1970 F-250s. Most builders accept that limitation.
We didn't.

Instead, our fabrication team engineered and built an entirely custom suspension system from the ground up, creating a six-inch lift specifically for this truck. Weeks were spent designing brackets, modifying suspension geometry, fabricating new mounting points, and ensuring every component worked together as if Ford had intended it from the beginning. The result delivers the commanding stance our client envisioned without compromising drivability or reliability. The fabrication work alone required extensive custom metal construction, bracket fabrication, steering modifications, and countless hours of engineering and refinement.

That new stance is finished with BFGoodrich KO3 all-terrain tires wrapped around iconic American Racing Baja wheels—a combination that looks as though it belongs beneath a classic Ford from the factory while providing modern all-terrain capability. A custom-fabricated upright spare tire carrier in the bed ensures the fifth wheel is as functional as it is visually striking, while bespoke mounts for KC Daylighter lights complete the truck's unmistakable overland character.

Inside, Canyon tells a different story.

The utilitarian work truck cabin has been transformed into a place you'd happily spend hours behind the wheel without losing the character that makes an old Ford feel like an old Ford. The seats and door panels were reupholstered in distinctive white crocodile-pattern upholstery, complemented by fresh black carpeting and a new dash pad that brings renewed life to the cabin. Overhead, a Realtree camouflage headliner adds an unmistakably American touch that feels perfectly at home in a vintage pickup built for the outdoors.

Modern comforts were carefully integrated rather than forced into the design. Vintage styling remains thanks to a RetroSound Bluetooth radio that hides contemporary technology behind a period-correct appearance, feeding an upgraded amplifier and speaker system for clear, modern audio without sacrificing the truck's classic dashboard. Air conditioning, heat, power steering, and power-assisted brakes make Canyon every bit as enjoyable to drive today as it is to admire. Throughout the build, new weather seals, upgraded lighting, refreshed electrical systems, and countless handcrafted details ensure this fifty-year-old Ford feels ready for another half-century of adventures.

Project Canyon is a reminder that great trucks don't need to be reinvented. They simply need to be respected.
